“It was a busy weekend for us. Together with Honda, we’ve been working to improve the performance of the CBR. In the free practice, we focused on gathering as much data as possible with the updates on the bike. In the Superpole we used most of the session to fine tune the set up of the bike. In the last few minutes I did a time attack and I was close to 1’38, but nearly missed out.
In Saturday’s warm up we tried to find a solution to some challenges that we were facing with the power management of the bike. As the race started, the pace was not too bad. However, I decided to pit in to try another solution with the team, as we wanted to make the most out of the time on track to improve our performance. We did notice an improvement afterwards, which eventually helped out on Sunday.
In Sunday’s race my pace was quite faster than Saturday. I enjoyed fighting with the group, we are working in the right direction.
We need to improve the performance in the exit of the turns, yet I know that together with the team and Honda it’s possible to make progress. I’m thankful for all the hard work that it’s being put in for this project.”
